Tabby Coomer

Growing up I always sketched jewelry as I was fantasizing about having pierced ears. What teen girl doesn't want her ears pierced? I would 'doodle' a design, tell myself that I will never have pierced ears, and then throw the paper away or put it in a book only to discover it at a later time. When I finally got my ears pieced (in my mid 20's!), I had long forgotten about the doodling and found myself wearing mass-produced earrings just like everyone else.

It wasn't until about 10 years later that I took a jewelry making class (aka "beads on a string") and became hooked. Afterwards, I became a certified PMC (precious metal clay) instructor; and, now I'm learning silversmithing.

My inspiration comes from nature but also from the clean lines of man-made structures. As for earrings, I love making them! Many women I've talked to are set on one style of earring and in some cases, only one pair. They steer away from anything too flashy or too dangly. I feel that every woman needs a little dabgke and bit of sparkle. It doesn't have to be expensive - just well crafted and unique - like the individual!
