Linda F. Baker lives and works in Northern Kentucky where she shares her life with her husband and dog. She works out of her home studio and at a studio she shares with friends.
Working mostly with stoneware, Linda likes to bring a bit a nature into her pieces. From her home studio she can walk through the yard to find a variety of plants. Since she would much rather make pottery than do gardening there are plenty of overgrown plants and weeds to choose from. Pressing real leaves into the clay adds a uniqueness to each piece.
The majority of her work is wheel thrown and then altered, fired in an electric kiln to cone 5/6 with lead free glazes to make ware that can go in the microwave oven and dishwasher. She likes her pottery to be functional as well as decorative, and also to feel good - no sharp edges or coarse bottoms.
Linda continues to explore the endless possibilities with pottery by experimenting with various clay bodies, glazes and glazing techniques, and different methods of firing.
