ANN GRIMALDI
Artist's Statement: As a painter of a number of subjects, including still-lifes, landscapes, and figures, I enjoy capturing the emotional aspect of the subject that inspires me to paint it. I do not seek to merrily copy what I see, but to capture that element that embodies the human spirit. For me, painting, especially when working from life, is a spiritual experience. As an artist, I very much enjoy this process, and for the viewer, it is my endeavor to create a work that one will never tire of enjoying.

Artist's Biography: Ann Grimaldi works in oil on panel and paints a variety of subjects: landscapes, still-lifes and figures, especially portraits. Drawing was a favored activity as a child, and courses in art during high school inspired Ann to study and major in painting in college. After college, she worked in the field of graphic design for twelve years, but always kept her hand in art, painting on the weekends and attending weekly figure drawing classes. After ending her career in graphic design, and now being at home with her family, she has enjoyed the opportunity to pursue her painting full-time.
